MY
STORY

Hello, everyone! Welcome to AnnaTodd.com! I’m so happy to have you here with me, I’ve been dying to show you this site forever! So, feel free to explore and even check out the shop where you can get signed books shipped to anywhere in the world. I’m going to have a blog and everything *squeal* but before you get started, I wanted to share with you my journey from day dreaming about writing to becoming an author of over ten books (what!?!?). There have been so many wonderful moments along the way and I can’t wait to share more with you all!

GROWING UP

lines

I was born and raised about an hour north of Cincinnati, Ohio. I spent my whole childhood there and attended the same school district my entire life. Some of my friends there are still my closest friends today. Growing up in a small town, I found two things: my love of reading and my husband!

I found my love of reading early on too. I can’t even remember the first book I read, just that I’ve always loved reading. Some of my early favorites were novels like The Babysitter’s Club, The Goosebumps books and by the time I was a teenager I was in love with classic literature. If you’ve read my books this isn’t a surprise to you 😛

MY LOVE STORY

lines

I met my husband when we were in high school and we got married a month after I graduated high school, (insane, I know, but it somehow worked out in my favor.)  The Army stationed us in Texas when I was eighteen, and we managed to make it through three deployments to Iraq, many many moves, and I can’t imagine my life without him. This journey has been insane and I can’t imagine not having him by my side to enjoy the ride with me.

After spending a few years in Austin we decided to move to LA where we currently live and I love it!

BECOMING A WRITER

lines

I found Wattpad through reading Fanfiction and from the second I laid my eyes on the platform, I fell down the rabbit hole. It was a place I couldn’t have even dreamed existed with people just like me, an entire world of people who read and write on the internet. I found a community, a home really, with these people who were writing in the hours off of work, school, parenting, life, and I loved every second of it. And I wrote. And wrote. And wrote and then wrote some more. I couldn’t stop! Over 1 millions words came from my fingers into my first novel I had ever written. Ever.

MAKING IT TO PRINT

lines

The After series had hundreds of millions of reads after almost a year. *screaming* After working with Wattpad and talking about my dreams of being published we worked together to get a traditional publisher so my online readers could actually see my books in print *cries*.

I was so lucky that through this awesome (and dreamlike) process I met my editor Adam Wilson from Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. I met with a few publishers but Adam and I clicked immediately. He’s the perfect fit for me and not only helped me with my words but helped me fully embrace the evolving world of traditional publishing.

Flash forward two years later and the After series has translated into over 30 languages and I’ve been fortunate enough to meet so many of you across the world. It’s been such a surreal experience for me to see my books in print, with so many different covers, in the arms of so many of you. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, you guys have changed my life and I am living my dream because of YOU! Guys, I just published our eighth book and I’m working on my tenth right now! *happy screaming*

WHAT COMES NEXT

lines

This is the part of the story where you really have to pinch me because I still can’t believe it but – After is becoming a movie! I actually got offered a movie option before I even got a publishing deal, which is so insane but also awesome. (mostly insane)

I was so confused and excited to be approached about making a movie out of my words and characters.  With Wattpad, Howie Sanders and UTA’s passion and guidance, we got a deal with Paramount Pictures and Jen Gibgot (our amazing producer).  The script is incredible, and Susan McMartin (our screenwriter) is not only incredibly talented, but just an awesome person. I know that After is in the right hands, the team and I have the best time chemistry, and Jen is the driving force behind us making sure that the movie is done right and you guys love it!

As I wrap up I can’t believe where I am today. I’ll share all my news with you guys here and I can’t wait to share more. Enjoy my new website and don’t forget to join my mailing list for updates and random things I feel like spamming you with <3
